Climate Action at Bondi!

Posted on the campaign blog , September 7th, 2007
On the Friday of APEC, we gathered around a massive 144-square metre floating canvas at the iconic Bondi Beach. On Saturday we carried our message out to sea at the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns. Sunday, we are set for Melbourne!

"The World Demands Binding Climate Targets at APEC 2007!".

This was the message GetUp members sent to the politicians attending this weeks APEC summit.

A huge thanks to everyone who came out, check out the photos, videos and news from the events!

Thank you for all your worthwhile efforts. I didn't realise that the electoral enrolment laws had changed until I heard about it on The Chaser's War on Everything (thank God for the Chaser boys!) Even then, I didn't really take in the seriousness of the remark until I read the latest email from the GetUp team. Keep up the good work!

I was beginning to think Get Up was all a bit Sydneycentric, but I guess as APEC was there it figures that most of the action would be there. However your latest idea looks set to spread the word wider. I would love to host an event but, where I live, I think I might be lynched.

Keep up the good work

Just wanted to let you know that in Mansfield Victoria we have formed a thriving Mansfield Environment and Climate Action group (MECA) and hope to be doing our own walk against warming on 11th Nov, and inviting local pollies & councillors to share their plans for climate action & answer questions at the end of the walk. It's great to be able to get out there and do something public. Congrats to all of you taking action and making it fun!
WE CAN DO IT!

The election is over -- I wondered if we know anyone who conducted some exit interviews at the polls, in particular about the general public attitude to climate

And ... significantly, who /which groups yet need to get the message?
