Taking it to the Street - GetUp members from all over the ACT are out in a massive effort to interact with voters at market stalls, malls and transport hubs across Canberra. PAST ACTIONSAll eyes on the Senate: Thanks for helping us fill the Senate chambers on August 13 and 14 during the Senate's hearings on the NT legislation! Several Senators told us how encouraging your presence was during their speeches in opposition to the way the legislation was pushed through without proper consultation or debate. Save our Senate forum: What a great night on August 9, with over 300 of you coming to hear from and share your concerns about the abuse of the Senate with Senate Clerk Harry Evans and Senators Chris Evans, Bob Brown, Lyn Allison and Barnaby Joyce. Walk Against Warming: An incredible 9 000 people turned out on 9 November for Canberra's Walk Against Warming, joining 150 000 around Australia. Thanks to all ACT GetUp members for a show of force for climate action now! This campaign is part of GetUp's electoral program, Australia GetsUp '07, whose aim is to build an accountable and progressive Parliament -- one with economic fairness, social justice, and the environment at its core.
