What's the climate impact?

The pulp mill just doesn't make any sense - environmentally or economically. We need a full assessment of the climate value of the native forests that will feed it - they're the quickest and easiest way to reduce our emissions.

Tell Professor Garnaut, as he's making his Climate Change Report, that we want him to examine the full impact of the logging that will feed the mill. Sign the petition today to stop this climate disaster:

Dear Professor Garnaut,
Australia already has a large, cheap and immediate source of CO2 abatement - the carbon carrying capacity of our native forests. We encourage you to widen the parameters of your inquiry into their full value in meeting Australia's emissions targets.
We ask that you provide a full carbon assessment of the impact of logging our forests, in particular Tasmania's forests destined for the pulp mill, including the serious carbon loss in converting native forests to plantations, the economic value in leaving them intact as sources of sequestration, and the role they can play in an emissions trading scheme."

New target - 30,000!

30,919 have joined this campaign - help us get to 30,000.

We have achieved 103.06% of our goal. Let’s keep going!
