The
Prime Minister met with the Chinese Premier yesterday urging him to
resolve the tension over Tibet. In a show of
diplomatic skill, Mr Rudd urged the Premier to address the significant human rights problems in Tibet.
GetUp has
publicly congratulated the PM on his firm stance of the issue of Chinese human rights violations in Tibet and for promoting the concerns of over 55,000 Australian's who signed our Stand Up for Tibet petition.

The Prime Minister has expressed
Australians' concerns about Tibet during a speech in Beijing yesterday. Speaking in Mandarin Mr Rudd reaffirmed that he would push the issue during talks with Chinese Government officials.

The Prime Minister has arrived in China, amid continuing international protests over China's crackdown in Tibet.
Rudd has hardened his stance and said that he plans to raise the issue of events occurring in Tibet during his visit to Beijing.
Almost 55,000 Australians signed the petition to Stand Up for Tibet and a member of the Australian Tibet Council has arrived in China to represent our concerns. Read the

A
poll conducted for GetUp has found that 71% of Australians want Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to take a lead in bringing a lasting solution to the conflict over Tibet.
As
protests continue during the Olympic torch's relay through Europe,
Rudd ruled out Chinese security for Canberra leg of the relay later this month.
The PM will today leave for China to meet with Chinese officials. Sign our petition to

Over 30 people have been arrested in London following
demonstrations against China's crackdown in Tibet during the British leg of the Olympic torch relay. Canberra has been put on high alert for the
Australian leg of the torch relay later this month as British protesters attempted to extinguish the torch on its way through London.
