Thanks for visiting OzEnrol.com.au. You've probably come here hoping to enrol to vote online. Unfortunately we've decided to take ozenrol offline for now - but you can enrol to vote at the Australian Electoral Commission.

NB: the AEC website, below, says you can mail your enrolment forms in. If you send your forms by mail they will not arrive at the AEC in time and you will not be enrolled to vote -- you must fax or hand-deliver your forms to ensure they reach the AEC by 8pm on Monday July 19th if you are enrolling to vote. If you are updating your details (like name and address) you have until the end of Thursday to send your forms in.

We set up OzEnrol to try and make it easier for people to submit enrolment forms through a quick and easy website. The most innovative feature of OzEnrol is that it allows users to sign enrolment forms online using a digital pen, mouse or trackpad, so that enrolment forms could be submitted online without the need for snail-mail or a fax machine.

Unfortunately, over the past day, the Australian Electoral Commission has raised questions about the validity of using an electronic signature to register to vote.

While we still believe enroling to vote should be easier, and that OzEnrol.com.au provides a valid, simple way of doing just that, we don't want to jeopardise anyone's opportunity to vote come election day. So for the moment, we're directing visitors to the Australian Electoral Commission while we consider our legal options to challenge the AEC's position on this.

GetUp has been fighting since 2006 to make enrolling to vote easier - and we'll keep up that campaign so that next election every Australian gets their say.
