GetUp have launched the next stage of our
Stand Up For Tibet campaign with an advert urging the PM
to speak out against human rights abuses in Tibet. The advert is
scheduled to be screened before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games tomorrow.

Mr Rudd has confirmed that
he plans to discuss the matter again with the Chinese Government on his trip for the Olympics.

In the next stage of our
Stand Up For Tibet campaign, GetUp and the ATC have launched an advertising campaign -
Olympic silence is not golden to urge Mr Rudd to stand up for the rights of Tibetans during his visit to China for the Olympic games this week.
The advert will go to air before the opening ceremony,

A
green carbon report released by the ANU has revealed the true role that trees can play in
solving climate change. The report looked at half of Australia's remaining forests and estimated a total storage of around 33 billion tonnes of CO2 - almost tree times previous estimates.
The figures released once again highlight the importance of preserving Australia's remaining native forests - particularly those of the Tamar Valley currently threatened by the proposed
Gunn's Pulp Mill.

Inaugural National Indigenous Students Conference has kicked off at Sydney University today It will be attended by two of GetUp's Interns who will report back on the unique event.

chunk of ice measuring over 18 kilometers squared has broken off Canada's largest ice shelf in a dramatic example of the severe effects of global climate change.
