Protect our right to vote
Supported by GetUp members like you, our movement made sure the Morrison Government knows how their failure to protect remote Aboriginal communities from COVID-19 is going to impact the right to vote this election.
It's up to Minister Ben Morton to work with the Australian Electoral Commission on a plan.
Will you sign the petition demanding Minister Morton make a plan to keep communities safe this election?
So we demanded the NT Electoral Commission keep enrolment open right up until election day.
And it worked – thousands of Aboriginal people across the Territory were able to enrol and have their say.
This election, the stakes are higher than they've ever been. The issues remote Aboriginal communities have been raising for decades were amplified by the Morrison Government's failure to protect us from COVID-19.
We know what a COVID-safe election plan needs to look like. It's tests, masks, staggered voting, and extended enrolment and voting for these communities.
Sign the petition demanding Minister Morton work with the AEC to enact this plan now!

Dear Minister Ben Morton,
First Nations people shouldn’t be denied the right to vote because of your Government's failure to protect people from COVID-19.
We demand you work with the AEC to make a plan to keep remote Aboriginal communities safe this election. That means tests, masks, staggered voting, and extended enrolment and voting for these communities.
