Ask your MP to oppose Adani
The Stop Adani campaign is kicking goals. So far, two Liberal MPs have come out publicly opposing the $1 billion handout of public money for Adani's polluting coal mining project.
Then last week Westpac ruled out financing Adani!
On top of all that, over the weekend Labor took their strongest ever stance against the mine. Shadow Energy Minister Mark Butler slammed Turnbull for being "chained to this Adani project that doesn't bear any relationship to commercial reality".1
Now, we need to make sure they know that every time they speak out against Adani they're speaking with the furious backing of thousands of Australians. This mine is so unpopular it's toxic, and it's our job to remind our politicians.

Here are some things you could mention:
- Shadow energy and environment minister Mark Butler recently said that the "the economics of this project don't stack up" and that "we should be thinking about other economic development and job opportunities for North Queensland."1 This is the best opportunity we've had so far to call on the Federal Labor Government to oppose the handout to Adani. Why not ask your Labor MP to back up Mr Butler's comments?
- Westpac has become the latest bank to rule out financing Adani's coal project. That means all four big banks have said they won't.2 If they won't, why should the government spend public money on it?
- Adani are under investigation for corruption, fraud, money laundering and tax evasion in India – how can we trust them with public money?3
- Don't forget to ask your MP if they will publicly oppose Adani.
