Protect Koalas

The koala is an Australian icon; universally recognised and loved, not found anywhere else on Earth. The prospect of seeing one in the wild is an attraction unique to our country, worth an estimated $1 billion a year in tourism dollars but big business pleaded with Senators to make sure the koala is not protected.
Scientific evidence from organisations such as the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF) unequivocally support the need for the koala to be listed as "vulnerable" under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC). Localised extinctions are occurring daily and a recent Senate Inquiry highlighted the koala's threats - yet so far there is no political will to protect their habitat.
Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke will make his final decision on Monday. Tell Minister Tony Burke to help our struggling koala population, who can't help themselves. Ask him to give them the protection they so desperately need.

Minister Burke,

The koala is an Australian icon; universally recognisable and loved, not found anywhere else on Earth. Right now our vulnerable koala population is under threat after years of property development, disease, deforestation and habitat degradation.

Mr. Burke, please help our struggling koala population, who can’t help themselves. List the population as "vulnerable" under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act.
