Local communities or gas corporations?
The Albanese Government has $1.5 billion earmarked for the Middle Arm gas hub in the NT that will open the Beetaloo to fracking.1 And now the disastrous gas project is projected to blow out to $3.6 billion.2
With Environment Centre NT's visionary report for "Recharging the Territory", we have a concrete, costed alternative to point to.4
With this plan on the table, the Albanese Government has the opportunity to go above and beyond – funding sustainable projects Traditional Owners and local communities have been calling on for decades.5
Our powerful movement is best placed to make sure this visionary alternative is in front of every Labor MP and Senator – especially ahead of the next Federal budget in May this year.
Will you email your Labor MP or Senator now to tell them there's a better way to spend public money while they're making vital budget decisions?

Middle Arm is a gas industry plan for a massive port and industrial hub on Darwin Harbour.7
The ABC obtained the NT Government's original business case for Middle Arm through freedom of information requests. It details how the new hub would pump out petrochemicals using fracked Beetaloo gas that steamrolls the consent of Traditional Owners.8
Frackers and gas lobbyists celebrated when nearly $2 billion in public funding was announced in the October budget.9
After GetUp members – together with Traditional Owners and local campaigners – snapped into action to challenge the subsidy, the Albanese Government greenwashed the project as "sustainable".10 7 And the NT government quietly scrubbed the word "petrochemicals" from the Middle Arm website.11
And now the NT Government have request up to $3.6 billion in public money to meet the true cost of gas project.12
It's shrouded in controversy and secrecy, and has dire consequences for Traditional Owners, surrounding communities, and our climate.
Send a quick email to your Labor MP or senator now to call on them to use public money for public good in the NT, not gas.
