Time to put People Over Profit

Australia should be a place where everyone can live a good life. We all deserve food on the table, a place to call home, and the chance to build a secure future.

But right now, so many of us are watching prices climb, while big corporations make record profits and skip out on paying their fair share.

Every year, our leaders decide where our public money goes. They can choose to keep propping up tax breaks for massive corporations and subsidies for fossil fuels — or they can choose to fund what we really need: affordable homes, fair energy prices, and quality healthcare.

That's why we're building a movement to turn things around. Together, we can hold politicians accountable, make corporations pay their fair share, and create a country that actually looks out for everyone—not just those at the top.

Imagine an Australia where:
  • Food is fresh, nutritious and priced fairly for everyone.
  • Housing is accessible and affordable for all.
  • Energy is priced fairly, freeing families from the stranglehold of profit-driven price hikes.
  • Healthcare is guaranteed, as a right, not a privilege.
  • Public funds are invested in people, not fossil fuel subsidies or tax loopholes for multinationals.
Are you in? Join us and add your voice to the call for an Australia that works for all of us.
You'll join the #PeopleOverProfit campaign, a movement fighting for a future where our leaders make real investments in affordable housing, healthcare, and fair energy prices for everyone.

You'll be the first to hear about new ways to keep big corporations in check, holding them accountable for paying their fair share instead of dodging taxes and raking in record profits at our expense.

You'll receive regular updates on our progress, and see how your voice is helping build a future where everyone can live with dignity and security.
Every person in Australia deserves access to a basic standard of living — safe housing, healthy food, and affordable energy. But rising costs have made these basic human rights out of reach for too many. Low-income households are hit hardest, with the poorest Australians facing a 31% higher increase in living costs compared to wealthier groups in 2024. Meanwhile, corporate profits account for 29% of national income—the highest in Australian history.

Decades of unfair policies have allowed corporate power to grow unchecked. In many industries, like resources, retail, and transport, the top four companies control an average of over 60% of the market in some sectors. This market control enables ongoing and unchecked price rises.

At the same time, Australia's corporate tax system enables major corporations, including fossil fuel giants, to avoid paying their fair share. In 2022-23, nearly a third of large corporations paid no tax, despite generating billions in revenue.

Housing policies favor the wealthiest 10%, with tax perks driving investment speculation, pushing up prices, and locking out first-home buyers. The result? Higher rents, worse affordability, and fewer secure homes.

Here's what needs to be done

The People Over Profit campaign is powered by thousands of voices across Australia who are calling for a fairer future—one where big corporations don't control the rules, and everyone has a shot at a decent life.

Together, we've already made a powerful impact:
  • Over 15,000 signatures delivered to the Cost of Living Inquiry, demanding real solutions to Australia's affordability crisis.
  • Over 4,000 stories shared by everyday people affected by the soaring costs of housing, energy, and everyday essentials.
  • Over 12000 of everyday people who have joined the push to break up the supermarket duopoly, which keeps prices high while limiting choice and competition.
These voices are shaping our policy calls and making it clear to decision-makers what's at stake.

Here's what we're fighting for:
  • Holding corporations accountable by closing tax loopholes and ensuring big businesses pay their fair share to fund essential services
  • Affordable housing through reforms that end unfair tax perks and invest in public and social housing.
  • Breaking the supermarket duopoly to introduce fair competition and bring down food prices for everyone.
  • Regulating energy companies to prevent price gouging and keep power bills manageable.
This campaign is about creating a future where people come before profits, and essentials like housing, healthcare, and affordable food are within everyone's reach.

With each story shared and every petition signed, we're building unstoppable momentum. Are you with us?
