Food security for remote communities!
This is unacceptable. Right now, First Nations peoples in remote communities are forced to pay up to $40 for a small tin of coffee just to enjoy their morning brew – more than double people pay in towns and cities.1
This isn't new. Almost every wet season in the Northern Territory, communities are left to struggle with food shortages from soaring freight costs and road closures ramping up the cost of essential items.
Everyone deserves access to affordable and nutritious food, regardless of where they live.
With each passing day, more and more Australians grapple with how they're going to make ends meet, but First Nations communities across the country have felt the sting of price gouging for years.
Families are calling for support with the cost-of-living crisis to ease the finaicial stress of putting food on the table everyday.
Together, we can call on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to increase subsidies for food and essential items so that First Nations families and communities can have uninterrupted access to essential items like fresh food.
Will you sign the petition calling on the Albanese Government to subsidise food and essential items in remote communities across the country?

To Prime Minister Anthony Albanese,
The Government must immediately and substantially increase subsidies for food and essential items in remote communities across the country. First Nations people must have reliable access to reasonably priced goods and fresh produce.
