Forget the $6 GP co-payment. A new report in the Sun Herald shows that the Turnbull Government's Medicare GP rebate freeze is driving GP practices out of bulk billing all together. That can mean gap fees of $40 or more for patients who were once fully covered by Medicare.
In fact, gap fees can increase for everyone, as GP fees go up in line with costs while the Medicare rebate stays frozen for the next 4 years. But this hurts seniors, people suffering from chronic illess and people on low incomes the most.
The Turnbull Government almost lost the election on Medicare and they're under serious pressure in the polls. So, with a big, public campaign, we know we can win.
