Lady Cilento group shot
Twelve days ago, the doctors at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital took a courageous stand, and refused to release baby Asha into the hands of the Australian Border Force.

For ten straight days and nights the people of Brisbane stood in solidarity with the staff at Lady Cilento and maintained a vigil outside the hospital, for fear baby Asha and her mother would be snatched away under the cover of night.

This week we celebrated an extraordinary victory for people power! On Sunday, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton finally responded to public pressure, and allowed baby Asha and her family to be moved into the community.

We've shown what people can do when we unite, now's the perfect opportunity to ramp up the campaign to 'Let them stay'. There are still 267 men, women, and children whose lives hang in the balance – we need to remain vigilant to quash any moves to deport them, or Asha and her family to Nauru.

Will you join us on Thursday night to discuss how we can continue to build on the momentum together?

When: 5.30-7.30pm, Thursday 25 February
Where: Justice Place, 84 Park Rd, Woolloongabba (see map below for details)

This is an open meeting for anyone who participated in the vigil for baby Asha, or just wants to find out how to get more involved.

NB: This event isn't being organised by GetUp, but you can look out for Ellen in her GetUp t-shirt, who'll be there tomorrow night in case you have any questions or just want to say 'hi'.

WILL YOU BE THERE?
