Senate Inquiry: Save Tassie Forests!

Last year the World Heritage Committee took a bold step to protect Tasmania's forests by adding an additional 170,000 hectares to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

But now the Australian government has applied to withdraw almost half of these forests from their newfound protection status.

An official Senate Inquiry is underway, investigating the claims and actions of the Government and they want to know if you think Tassie's forests should be protected.

Greg Hunt, our Environment Minister, claims that these forests do not deserve protection because they are substantially "degraded or logged". However more than 90% of the forests that the Government want to delist have never been logged.

Let's get Tassie's forests off the chopping block - make a submission today.

Submissions close 5pm Friday March 7.
