Write a letter to the World Heritage Committee

The conference centre is booked, delegates have their flights and they're starting to read briefing papers. That's right, in just a few weeks UNESCO's World Heritage Committee will come together in Qatar to make historic decisions about the future of Tassie's beautiful forests.

Our Government want to use this meeting to shrink the World Heritage protection zone of our beautiful wilderness, making an official submission to revoke the forest's recent international listing. The Committee need to hear that in spite of the Federal Government's actions, the majority of Australians want Tasmania's pristine forests to remain fully protected.

The outstanding beauty of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area is something we can all be proud of, and want to protect for generations to come. The Committee will be making their decision in the coming weeks. Make sure your voice is heard by writing a letter to the Chairperson today.

Stay tuned for other exciting campaign plans to protect Tassie forests - we've getting ready to turn up the volume on this issue in the lead up to the summit.

Write a letter

Use this tool to write a letter to the Chair of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and ask them to keep Tassie's forests protected.

We've seen drafts of the Committee's recommendation and with a big display of positive community support we know we can get this across the line - but the key will be in maintaining a high level of respect for these decision makers, so please remain polite!
