Send a letter to save our koalas

The bushfires destroyed 83% of koala habitat in NSW. Now logging companies are continuing the destruction.1

With our koalas more threatened than ever, logging must be halted to ensure their protection. To do this, we need to up the pressure on the leaders responsible.

Can you send a message to the NSW Premier and demand an immediate suspension of logging?

The main thing is to introduce yourself, tell the NSW Premier why this issue matters to you even though you may not be from NSW. And demand she do everything in her power to ensure an immediate suspension of logging in areas where there is proof koalas inhabit.

Good question!

It turns out it is quite difficult to contact NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian via email address. And while she does have a contact form, we thought it might be fun to show just how strong the pressure is for Premier Berejiklian to stand up for koalas.

All you have to do is write your message, and we will convert it into a letter and deliver it directly to her office. And don't worry! We'll only be using recylced paper.

Vulnerable koalas are under threat. Let's use our power to show the NSW Government we care.

Write a short message, telling Premier Berejiklian that logging on the NSW Mid North Coast must be suspended until our koala populations have been properly assessed.

After a season of horrifying and destructive bushfires, the surviving koalas are facing new threats to their lives and homes. Logging companies are clearing land where koalas might be – and locals are stuck at home as a result of coronavirus restrictions, unable to protest. We are calling on the NSW Government to take action – suspend logging on NSW Mid North Coast and protect our koalas from further threats!
Estimates suggest that as many as 5,000 koalas died in NSW alone and that they have lost as much as 83 percent of their habitat in NSW, as a result of the bushfires. Injured koalas have only just started returning to their homes. They need time to recover and we need to ensure they don't face further threats to their lives.
There is exceptionally strong evidence that koalas remain in areas where logging has been permitted to continue - evidence that should by law necessitate the immediate suspension of logging until further investigation has been undertaken. Undeniable proof has come to light of koalas living in active logging areas, including residents hearing koala activity and koala claw marks being found on trees. Given the state of the koala population, it's critical that NSW Premier Berejiklian suspend logging and a thorough assessment conducted to ensure koalas face no further threats. If there are koalas living where logging is occurring, we need to make sure it stops so they can be protected.
