#LetThemStay – Lady CilentoWhat a difference a month can make.A month ago today, the High Court handed down a ruling that paved the way for the government to deport 267 men, women and children to detention on Nauru. And the Federal Government was about to do just that – but #LetThemStay happened. Lady Cilento was one incredible showdown, and an inspiring reminder of what people can do when we come together. Let's keep it up.Join the movement: http://bit.ly/LetThemStay-LadyCilento

What happened at Lady Cilento
On February 12, the doctors at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital took a courageous stand, and refused to release baby Asha into the hands of the Australian Border Force. What came afterwards was unlike anything we've ever witnessed before. For ten days and nights straight the people of Brisbane stood in solidarity with the staff at Lady Cilento and maintained a vigil outside the hospital, for fear baby Asha and her mother would be snatched away under the cover of night.
Then something incredible happened. Immigration Minister Peter Dutton finally responded to public pressure, and allowed baby Asha and her family to be moved into the community.
If it wasn't for the bravery of the staff at Lady Cilento, the support of the Brisbane community, and the groundswell of public pressure right across the country – baby Asha and her mother would've been on a plane to Nauru weeks ago.
We've shown what people can do when we unite, now's the perfect opportunity to ramp up the campaign to 'Let Them Stay'. There are still 267 men, women, and children whose lives hang in the balance – we need to remain vigilant to quash any moves to deport them, or Asha and her family, to Nauru.
Now that Minister Dutton has conceded that Nauru is not an appropriate place for baby Asha and her family, the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has no excuse not to release every single one of these 267 people into the community.

LET THEM STAY
To Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Immigration Minister Peter Dutton,
We ask that you do not send the around 400 women, men, and children currently in Australia back to Nauru or Manus Island.
They will face a future of indefinite detention on tiny islands with no prospect of a decent life. They will be at serious risk of physical and sexual assault.
Please let them stay.
