GetUp! Campaigns

GetUp members set our movement’s agenda on issues they care about, in the fields of Environmental Justice, Human Rights, Economic Fairness and Democratic Integrity.

Economic Fairness

We believe in a society defined by social and economic equity, in which everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Our campaigns for Economic Fairness push for tangible, positive change such as increased funding for social housing, local job creation, and comprehensive government support during the coronavirus crisis.

Environmental Justice

We’re striving for a safe climate and thriving, vibrant natural world that future generations can enjoy for years to come. Our Environmental Justice campaigns hold the Government to account and demand clean energy and climate solutions that can keep us and our planet safe.

Fair Media

We believe in an open and fair democracy. Our Media and Democracy campaigns fight to keep our ABC fully funded, for press freedom and whistleblower protections, and for a strong, anti-corruption commission with real power to hold politicians to account. Fearless reporting and public interest journalism is one of the few things that defends our democracy and we need to defend it together.

First Nations Justice

We strive for our campaigns to play a role in the larger fight for First Nations Justice across the country. Land Rights and Climate Justice are central to our campaigns. All First Nations work at Getup is led by a team of campaigners from the Widjabul Wia-bul, Goreng Goreng, and Garawa nations.

Our team leads campaigns on the fight to end fracking in the Northern Territory, creating new Federal laws that protect Aboriginal cultural heritage and democratic participation. There is no Justice without First Nations Justice.

Human Rights

We want to live in a country where everyone is treated with fairness and compassion — no matter where they’re from, how they worship, or who they love. GetUp members are fighting for progress on human rights issues including broader government assistance during the coronavirus crisis, racial justice, and an end to far-right extremism.
